BTCPay Server: Zero-Fee Crypto Payments Are Live
Date: May 18, 2026Every payment processor charges a fee. Stripe takes 2.9% + 30¢. Coinbase Commerce takes 1%. Even most crypto processors skim something. We eliminated that entirely.
BTCPay Server: Self-Hosted, Zero Fee
BTCPay Server is open-source, self-hosted payment infrastructure. No middleman. No fee per transaction. The full payment goes directly to the treasury wallet.
We run it as primary rails for all 13 revenue crowns:
- Investor commitments ($1K–$50K)
- Hardware shop (Antminer Z15 Pro)
- Mining-as-a-Service ($5–$500)
- Arena entry fees ($10–$200)
- API subscriptions ($29–$199/mo)
- Agent marketplace ($25–$300)
The Math
At $17,600/mo projected revenue:
- Stripe would cost: $511/mo (2.9%)
- Coinbase Commerce would cost: $176/mo (1%)
- BTCPay: $0
Fallback Coverage
Not every buyer wants BTC. We cover the long tail:
NOWPayments — 200+ cryptocurrencies, 0.5% fee. Fallback when BTCPay isn't available for a specific asset. Kraken Pay — Direct Kraken rails for users who custody on Kraken. Zero slippage for ZEC, ETH, SOL, TON.How It Works
- Customer selects payment method at checkout
- BTCPay generates an invoice with on-chain address
- Customer pays — transaction hits the blockchain
- Webhook fires to
POST /api/payments/webhook/btcpay - Order activates automatically — no manual confirmation
- Transaction recorded in
crypto_payment_submissions
Security
Webhook integrity is verified via BTCPAY_WEBHOOK_SECRET HMAC on every inbound request. Invalid signatures are rejected before any order logic runs. The White Hat Payment Audit (/api/whitehat/audit/payments) runs 45 checks across all three payment integrations to catch configuration drift.
Zero-fee payment infrastructure is table stakes for a DePIN platform. We're not paying 3% to process our own treasury flows.
